Barbra Mandrell – Born in 1948

Barbara Ann Mandrell is a singer and songwriter in the country genre. In addition to her work as a writer and performer, she has a number of other accomplishments to her name, like being one of country music’s biggest stars in the late ’70s and early ’80s. A vehicle accident in 1984 nearly put an end to Mandrell’s acting career. Yet, she bounced back a year later and returned to singing chart-topping hits. She was active for several years until 1997 when Mandrell officially announced she was quitting the music scene to focus on acting. Indeed, there will never be another country songstress as impressive as Mandrell.
