Scherrie Payne – 76 Years Old

Few artists are as inspiring as Scherrie Payne, the vocal powerhouse who became famous after she joined The Supremes in 1973. She filled out the spot left open by Diana Ross, who had exited the R&B/Soul group to pursue a solo career. Scherrie stood out as a singing sensation after releasing the single He’s My Man. Although, the star whose other strength was songwriting, was disappointed that she couldn’t weave songs for the label. Scherrie has lent her distinct voice as a backing vocalist to many established performers, including her sister Freda Payne. The retired lead singer who is currently a playwright, enjoys a quiet life away from the limelight.
