Baby is real

Dirty Dancing’s Baby was one of the most iconic characters to come out of 80s cinema. What most people don’t know is that she is actually based on a real person. This person is no other than Eleanor Bergstein who wrote and co-produced the film. Like Baby, Eleanor was a Jewish girl who hailed from Brooklyn and vacationed regularly in the Catskills with her family. Most importantly, she was a dancer. While earning her university degree, she worked as a dance instructor and even participated in the local dancing competitions.
