Fighting for her story

Dirty Dancing was quite a revolutionary story at that time with its sub-plot involving an illegal termination of pregnancy. Producers actually wanted to remove it from the movie, but Eleanor Bergstein fought to keep it in the movie as it was central to the story. After all, if Penny was able to dance, then Johnny and Baby never would’ve met and fallen in love! She was right, of course.
