Valerie Harper – Born in 1939, The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Valerie Harper’s best-remembered role was as Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (which aired from 1970 until 1977) and in its spin-off Rhoda which ended a year later. She received a Primetime Emmy Award for her performance on the show three times! Valerie appeared in films too, including on Freebie and the Bean and Chapter Two that garnered critical acclaim. Her most recent roles were in the 2016 musical Nice Work if You Can Get it and in the television series, Childrens Hospital.  Valerie was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2009.
